Senior Engineer
Maria is an engineer and consultant in building physics, with interest in energy systems design and sustainability. She graduated in Engineering Physics and later completed a MSc graduation in Engineering Physics with the thesis “Building Energy Demand Response Simulation for an Office Tower in New York”.
Her main activities are consulting and project in the areas of building physics, namely energy optimization, natural ventilation, natural lighting, acoustics, and energy certification of buildings. She currently works in NaturalWorks, where she is responsible for the Consultancy, Optimization and Energy Certification team. Her work is developed in close cooperation with the client and the design team (architects, engineers), providing a comprehensive approach supported by software simulation, combined modelling methods and careful climate/building site analysis. She is also a trainer in building energy simulation (namely using EnergyPlus and DesignBuilder), and collaborates in research projects, having a total of 11 publications in building energy analysis, natural ventilation design and thermal simulation. She is member of the Portuguese Order of Engineers.
